About this webinar

“We can no longer wait for politicians to propose a path towards a better future.” - Quote by Hashim Sarkis, Architect, Curator, Professor MIT

We as architects, planners, developers are working in an industry that massively impacts global emissions and use of resources. Aswell we can offer new approaches to how we organize our living together in our cities, villages and neighbourhoods. Now is the time to take responsibility and push our clients and partners into a demanding process of transition and transformation.

In “Thinking Together for an Ecological & Societal Transition in Architecture,” Fabian will introduce you to a deeper understanding of the necessity of ecologically and socially driven architecture, and inspire you to take that road towards beautiful, readily-scalable architecture.

The content of this course has not been approved by the United Nations and does not reflect the views of the United Nations or its officials or Member States.

Hosted by Fabian Hörmann

Fabian was born in 1978 in Bielefeld/Germany. He studied architecture in Stuttgart and Las Palmas and worked in the fields of film, media, architecture in Germany, The Netherlands, Switzerland.

In 2009 he became associate at EM2N’s management board in Zurich. He was assistant curator for the exhibition ‘Together!’ of the Vitra Design Museum in 2018. In 2020 he published the political utopia ‘She, the President’. In 2021 he passed the new CAS regenerative materials at ETH Zürich.

He lectured at University of Stuttgart, University of Applied Science Frankfurt, ISCTE Lisbon, Politecnico di Milano, Technical University Graz a.o.

Upon completion, you'll be able to:

  • Learn about different aspects of inclusion and a new togetherness in societal architecture.
  • Understand the ecological potential of using "Regenerative Materials" and working with the yet built as they reduce the amount of potential toxic evaporation and can raise the level of fire-resistance.
  • Identify social impact e.g. “Collective Housing” ingredients can have for your project or community and the benefits for the individual well-being of occupants and the community.
  • Implement strategies and concepts of transition in your practice.
