About this webinar

Can creators of the built world bring Peace and Justice to the planet?  Can they create institutions that can reduce the fear of violence and create safety where individuals can flourish? Yes, YOU can. The potential within buildings, developments and cities can represent society’s commitment to justice and democracy. This course will examine case studies where architecture and design have changed lives and promoted safety and peace and has strengthened institutions for the benefit of humanity.

The content of this course has not been approved by the United Nations and does not reflect the views of the United Nations or its officials or Member States.

Hosted by Lynne Wilkinson

Lynne Wilkinson, RID, NCIDQ, NAHB, is Principal Interior Designer for the firm Draco Designs. Her passion for design developed during 12 years working and traveling abroad in over 150 countries studying and lecturing on the art, architecture, and history of hundreds of cultures. These influences fused with an innate artistic aesthetic and technical abilities allow Lynne to create and oversee unique designs that are as individual as the clients. Lynne is a licensed Interior Designer and holds an NCIDQ National Certificate for Interior Design Qualification.

Upon completion, you'll be able to:

  • Discuss how architecture and design, working with government leaders, can transform a country from one of the most violent in the world to one of the safest and most progressive.
  • Analyze how changing design thinking can change the relationship between a community and the police, and examine why anti-terrorism design does not have to be a concrete and steel fortress.
  • Compare how small changes in design can shift a community’s belief in inclusion and the strength of their public institutions.
  • Appraise how changes to the physical spaces used in the judicial institutions can affect societies.
