About this webinar

This course addresses the UN Sustainable Development Goal for Reduced Inequalities and how the creators of the built world can facilitate this goal. Inequality is growing as explosively as the global population. What is the basis for the inequalities, how can they threaten the continued growth and development of the world’s societies - and even more importantly - can the built world reduce or even eliminate inequality? Join us to see how sustainable equity can be built by understanding how we can Change By Design.

The content of this course has not been approved by the United Nations and does not reflect the views of the United Nations or its officials or Member States.

Hosted by Lynne Wilkinson

Lynne Wilkinson, RID, NCIDQ, NAHB, is Principal Interior Designer for the firm Draco Designs. Her passion for design developed during 12 years working and traveling abroad in over 150 countries studying and lecturing on the art, architecture, and history of hundreds of cultures. These influences fused with an innate artistic aesthetic and technical abilities allow Lynne to create and oversee unique designs that are as individual as the clients. Lynne is a licensed Interior Designer and holds an NCIDQ National Certificate for Interior Design Qualification.

Upon completion, you'll be able to:

  • Understand the types of inequity in existence and how the built world can reduce them.
  • Analyze the impact on designing for the disabled using empathy rather than codes.
  • Increase awareness of the needs to design for the Human Scale in megacities.
  • Discuss the impact of low-cost changes can reduce inequalities amongst the poorest neighborhoods.
