Tennessee Interior Design Continuing Education Requirements

The Tennessee State Board of Architectural and Engineering Examiners requires Tennessee-registered architects, engineers, landscape architects, and interior designers to complete 24 hours of continuing education every two years.
- CE Requirement: 24 PDHs (Professional Development Hours), of which at least 13 must address health, safety and welfare issues (HSW) and/or technical competency.
- CE Cycle: 2-year period based on original licensure date.
- Acceptable Coursework: The Tennessee Board does NOT pre-approve courses or providers. AIA, ASLA, IDCEC-approved courses are generally acceptable but it is the registrant's responsibility to use his/her professional judgment to determine if an activity meets the Board's criteria as summarized in this post and - most importantly - as detailed on Board's website (see "Source" at the end of this post for weblink).
- Reporting of Credits: Providers CANNOT report continuing education credits earned to the Tennessee Board, neither can registrants (except in case of audit - see "audit" below).
- Tracking of Credits: Registrants are responsible for maintaining proof of successful completion of continuing education activities for at least four years. Did you know? - Audit: A random sample of registrants will be selected for an in-depth audit to verify compliance with continuing education requirements.
