Licensed Louisiana architects are required to complete 12 hours of Continuing Education every calendar year. All must qualify as Health, Safety & Welfare.
CE Requirement: 12 Continuing Education Hours (CEHs)every calendar year, all of which must qualify as Health, Safety & Welfare (HSW) credits.
Renewal Deadline: December 31every year.
CE Reporting Cycle:Annual - Credits must be earned in the calendar year immediately preceding the license renewal date (i.e. credits must be earned between January 1 and December 31).
Acceptable Coursework: The Board accepts continuing education courses approved by the AIA under the HSW designation as well as the continuing education courses it has pre-approved. Final discretion is up to the Board.
Reporting of Credits: Providers cannot report continuing education credits earned to the Board. Licensees are required to attest that they are in compliance with the Board’s CE requirements on the annual renewal application. Design Arts Seminars reports credits electronically whenever possible.
Tracking of Credits: Licensed architects are responsible for maintaining proof of successful completion of continuing education activities for at least 2 years from the date of completion.
Audit: All architects licensed in Louisiana are subject to audit by the Board and upon written request will need to provide documentation to support the credits claimed at renewal.
