Connecticut architects are required to complete 12 hours of Continuing Education every calendar year.
- CE Requirement: 12 Continuing Education Hours (CEHs) every calendar year, all of which must qualify under Health, Safety & Welfare (HSW) classification.
- Renewal Date: July 31, every year.
- CE Reporting Cycle: Annual - Licensees are required to earn 12 CEHs in the calendar year immediately preceding the renewal date. (e.g. January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022, for the July 31, 2023 renewal).
- Acceptable Coursework: The Connecticut State Department of Consumer Protection accepts courses approved by AIA under the HSW designation or approved by the Connecticut Office of Education and Data Management. It is up to the licensee to determine whether the activity meets the Board’s requirements and final discretion is up to the Board.
- Reporting of Credits: Licensees attest to completing the annual continuing education requirement on the license renewal form. Design Arts Seminars reports credits electronically whenever possible.
- Tracking of Credits: Licensed Architects are responsible for maintaining proof of successful completion of continuing education activities for at least 6 years following the license renewal for which credits were claimed.
- Audit: All architects licensed in Connecticut are subject to audit by the Board and upon request will need to provide documentation to support the CEHs claimed at renewal.
- Carry-over Credits: Not permitted.
